Dennis M Photography Launch Party

We had the great pleasure of being one of the sponsors for a most fabulous launch party last Wednesday, January 21st. Brainchild of event planner extraordinaire Duncan Reyes, the party was in honor of Dennis M Photography, a hot new photographer located in Burlingame, right around the corner from Butterfly Cakes. The party was at the beautiful and historic City Club in San Francisco. The colors scheme was turquoise, black and white, with a modern edgy Latin vibe. We created this geometric cake that incorporated Dennis' logo.

Dennis Menendez himself.

Duncan Reyes, of Events by Design, gives the "welcome speech" and introduction.

And last but not least, the night ends with a slice of our Death by Chocolate cake. Stacy Tamaki of the Flirty Bride enjoys a slice.

Bumble Bee Garden Cake

A single tier version of the Little Girl's Garden cake (see below). We added bumble bees to this one.

Princess Castle Cake

Every princess deserves her castle! What little girl wouldn't just love to have this cake for her birthday? We had so much fun coming up with this creation. It's a simplified, more sophisticated version of the overdone castle cakes of the past. This princess has style! Serves 40.

Crazy for Yellow

My friend Nancy Liu Chin, a well-known floral designer who has a brilliant eye for design trends, tells me that yellow is one of the new "it" colors for weddings! It reminded me of this cake we recently made for a very special birthday party. It's a petal shaped base covered with rolled fondant and decorated with chocolate brown floral piping and a taupe and brown striped middle tier. Serves 100 people.

Wedding University

Calling all brides-to-be! Now is your chance to be a student again...at least for one very important, fun-filled day: the Wedding University. Two of the most reputable wedding coordinators in the Bay Area, Jubilee Lau and Jean Marks, have teamed up to put on a fabulous one-day seminar at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto. Yeah, yeah, there's going to be wine-tasting, menu sampling and goody bags. But the real draw here is that they have put together an absolutely "A-List" team of wedding professionals (everything from photography, to lighting, to makeup, etc.) who will "tell it like it is" and give you great advice on how to get the best possible service on your special day. This is no ordinary wedding faire..it's a class! Check it out Sunday, Feb. 8th, from 11 am - 5 pm.
