Children's Book Cake
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Cake. "On Monday, he ate through one apple. On Tuesday, he ate through one pear. . ." One of my favorite children's books! So cute, so simple, so hungry! Here's a huge version of that book that we created for a special first birthday. We handpainted the caterpillar and fruit to give it the same look as the book. Inside was moist red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

Travel Suitcase Cake
We created this special cake for our client Vicki's Aunt Margaret's 70th birthday. Margaret is an avid traveler and a very special aunt to Vicki: she moved in with Vicki and helped take care of Vicki's children while she was on bedrest for several months during her last pregnancy! Now, I'm sure Margaret was in dire need of a vacation after that!

Topsy Turvy Butterfly Themed Cake
After a lazy summer, we are back to posting on our blog. (Don't get me wrong, we were busy making cakes, just lazy about posting them!) Every cake is so unique and really takes on the personality of the event. This one is colorful, fanciful and glittery. The perfect cake for the stylish little girl turning one. Serves 40.

Seashell Wedding Cake
We made this cake for a lovely wedding out in Half Moon Bay. The seashells are all handcrafted from sugar, and the two ducks on top were handsculpted from fondant and sit atop a surfboard (this had special meaning for the bride and groom). Inside was moist chocolate cake layered with rich cheesecake and strawberry filling.

Porsche Cake
For my wonderful client, Diane. We made a wedding cake for Chuck and Diane several years ago, and then a cake for her baby boy a few years later. Now, another milestone celebrated with Butterfly Cakes -- Chuch's 30th! Here's what Diane had to say:
Thank you so much for the fabulous Porsche cake you did for Chuck's 30th birthday last weekend. The cake was a huge hit - in appearance and taste! Chuck was thrilled with it and we're still enjoying the leftovers :) I don't know what your secret it, but your fondant is the best we've ever tasted. Once again, you have done an amazing job for us. We really appreciate it!
